Why?
We all have our own experience with the concept of Home. Home may represent a recurring group of people, intertwined relationships, and the place where we feel most vulnerable, most loved, thus simultaneously, and potentially, most hurt. Home might be a one-bedroom apartment shared with one other person, a five-bedroom house with a family of eight, a car which someone returns to each night, or simply the person/people we come back to in our lives. The consistency of the rooms in our homes, or the lack thereof, often create patterns that can both soothe and disturb us. Some of us have had to build homes, and rebuild homes, and rebuild again. Others inherit homes they don’t want. Some run away from the home they’ve known, while others ache for a home they’ve fantasized about but never had. An immensely individual topic, yet one which has so much overlap amongst us– why do we yearn for a ‘Welcome Home, Home Sweet Home?’”
Through an abstract, dreamscape narrative utilizing architecture and dance, the evening will take the audience through fragments of memories and relationships that exist within this theme. The relationships explored in “HOME” aim to be as varied and emotionally complex as the audience members’ who will attend, with the intent of creating a sense of interconnectedness, empathy, and shared emotion.
